slacking susan

so, the reason for the lack of posting the past week or so is that susan, the nice lady whose unencrypted wireless internet we've been borrowing, has suddenly taken her network away.

and the fact that i've been super busy and i don't want to post from my work computer because i don't think that's professional.

a brief summary of the past few days:
the weekend was wicked busy. friday's "back to school" party was loads of fun. my co-workers are great! saturday, was busy and exhausting--mom and i flew in separately to SDF, i had lunch with joe & kim, we were delayed in getting the u-haul truck, and thus delayed in the rest of the day, but mike was a saint to help us load the truck in the 92-degree heat & humidity. i officially have no more tangible possessions in louisville. we hit the road around 7, drove through indy and stopped for dinner in whitestown, IN at this wonderful little restaurant called the LA Cafe where we split the filet oscar which was, perhaps, the best steak i have ever tasted. after dinner we drove another hundred miles up i-65 and stayed the night in merrillville, in. sunday morning, we drove into chicagoland, and unloaded the truck into my 3rd-floor walk-up, thanking the lord the weather was much cooler and overcast. by around 2, we had everything in the apartment (including my big ass couch which my 5'4" mother and myself managed to carry upstairs ourselves!). we got cleaned up and went to a place called Jane's for dinner which was quite good. then i sent her to the airport and went to return the truck in wrigleyville.

yesterday was the dancers' first day on contract. it was quite eventful as there was an injury during rehearsal. and there were two more injuries today. but i feel good about this job. katherine and i get along well and work well together, though i am still feeling things out as far as how much direct supervision she likes to supply and how much she wants me to be self-motivated.

and the highlight of my day: watching marty casey on rockstar: inxs cover "baby one more time."

  1. I can't belive that couch is still getting a tour of the US with you. Though Adam and I would kill to find a couch that comfortable somewhere.

  2. In retrospect, I think it would have been wiser for us to have bought a futon and been done with it. But I do love that couch--and everyone is always impressed when I tell them how I have to take the feet off to get it through doorframes. Once I get my own place in Chicagoland, you'll have to come stay with me and sleep on the couch, for old times' sake.
