A Week In The Life...

So, Eric hadn't been to Chicago ever before and I tried to show off the city without overwhelming him. Here's what we did all week:

Thursday:

• Ran errands - Reopened unemployment claim online, drove to DMV for vehicle registration renewal and updated license.
• Lunch at Kopi on Clark.
  
• Dinner at Great Lake pizza on Balmoral in Andersonville with my friend Nevette from Louisville Ballet 2004-2005 season.
• Dessert at Taste of Heaven at Clark and Balmoral.
  

Friday:

• Visited the Apple Store on Michigan Ave and Magnificent Mile window-shopping.
• Lunch at Grand Lux Cafe!
• Walk to the end of Navy Pier.
• Bus to State Street and Millennium Park, Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain.
• Take out dinner from Thai Pastry.
• Beers and Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind with my friend Suzanne with whom I worked during the 2006-2007 season at the Joffrey Ballet.

Saturday:

• Picnic Lunch on Lake Michigan.
• Dinner at El Mariachi on Broadway at Irving Park with Justin (co-worker from TriArts 2007 and 2008 and from UWM Winter Dances in 2008) and Eva (soon to be co-worker UWM Fall Festival) who drove down from Milwaukee.
• A game of Cranium with Justin and Eva.
• An hour of free drinks at The Spot 2B on Broadway just north of Montrose.

Sunday:

• Breakfast at Dunkin Donuts with Justin and Eva.
• An unsuccessful attempt to get drinks in the Signature Lounge with my friend Susannah (another intern from the 2002-2003 season at Actors Theatre of Louisville) and her fiancee Chris.
• Drinks/dinner at Grand Lux Cafe (again) with Susannah and Chris.
• Rented The Bank Job on DVD from the Red Box outside the Jewel.

Monday:

• Walked down along the Lake Front Trail to Belmont (3 miles), then continued south along Broadway south of Webster (another mile or so).
• Killed time browsing at Borders, World Market, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy.
• Dinner at Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder with the card girls Andrea (who I met working at the Joffrey in 2005-2006), Jooyoung, Jamie, and Robyn, and Jamie's boyfriend George.
• Visiting with Derrick (friend from the Joffrey) and Lauren.

Tuesday:

• Attempted unsuccessfully to have lunch at Sushi X. Lunched instead at Windy City Cafe.
• Had drinks at the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock tower.
• Went to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Left after the 10th. Did not stay to see the Cubbies lose in the 11th. :(
  

Wednesday:

• Had lunch at Corner Bakery with my friend Marianne, former roommate 2005-2007 and former co-worker from the Joffrey 2005-2007.
• Toured the new Joffrey Tower downtown and visited with Joffrey friends.
• Drove the boy to O'Hare airport. :(

Things we didn't get to do/Ideas for his next visit:

• Sushi X/Godzilla Roll.
• Hopleaf/Mussels.
• Shedd Aquarium (it was closed!)
• Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio in Oak Park.
• Meet Mandy L.
